Become a ringer or non-ringing volunteer

Consider joining Delmarva’s premier community handbell ensemble

If you are 18, can read music, and enjoy live musical performances, you should consider joining us. There are also opportunities for non-ringing volunteers (at right).

Maybe you are already playing in a church group and would like to try spreading your wings musically. However, previous handbell experience is not necessarily required. We also have a beginner-to-intermediate group, Bay2Bay Ringers.

A commitment to Capital Ringers is rigorous but rewarding. During rehearsal season (fall and late winter), Capital Ringers rehearse at least two hours every Sunday afternoon. Members are expected to help out in other areas that reflect their personal interests such as equipment maintenance, publicity, mentoring newer ringers, community outreach, and other opportunities.

We are always eager to talk about ringing and non-ringing volunteer opportunities. Email our artistic director, Linda Simms, or Judy Peterson if you are interested in finding our more about ringing and non-ringing volunteer opportunities.

Orientation on Saturday, June 4

Back to Bells! The Capital Ringers will host an orientation for prospective ringers and tech/production team members at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 4. The orientation will be at Conley’s United Methodist Church, 33106 Jolyn’s Way, Lewes. The church is located south of Del. 24 off Camp Arrowhead Road. Ringers must be able to read music.

For those who need a refresher or an introduction to handbell techniques, there will be six “Back to Bells” sessions from 9 to 11 at Conley’s, beginning on June 4.

Pre-registration is required. Contact Judy Peterson with questions or to register.

Opportunities for non-ringing volunteers, too

While our ringers are important, there is a lot going on behind the scenes to make our live shows and recordings successful. We especially need volunteers to join our tech team that focuses on sound, video and lights. But we also welcome people to help with publicity, set design, administrative help, and more.
